 The vote is closed for the 2026 student union election! 

What is the election and who are the student union? 

The election is an opportunity for students to choose who will represent them to City staff and leadership by voting for their five favourite candidates. These candidates will become members and take the roles of Student Union President and Deputy Presidents, getting paid to impact the university’s student experience. 

What does the student union do? 

They aim to provide independent support, academic support and social activities for students across all campuses.  The elected student officers should advocate for change and encourage the university to implement changes in line with their manifestos and priorities during elections.  They organise events such as the Freshers’ fair at the beginning of the year, and other events throughout the year, for instance, those that take place in the Pavilion.   

Why should you vote? 

This is your chance to let your voice be heard on campus. By voting for your Student Union, you get to pick members that can properly represent you by giving City St George’s leadership a better understanding of what is important to us and what we want to see on campus. Whether you are tired of overpriced school meals or wish for a better connection between Tooting and Clerkenwell Campuses, by voting you can see these changes come to fruition. Make the most of your degree, remember you are paying for these services, so being engaged in what happens on campus will make it a much better experienced for each of you. 

Each of the 27 candidates shared their top 3 priorities on the Student Union election page, summarised below. Remember voting closes on Thursday the 12th of March at 2pm so have a read and pick who can best voice your needs as soon as you can!

Abdulhadi Alajm 

Hosting spaces for student debates and talks so that students can voice their needs weekly and wants students to decide what else he should prioritise 

AG Agarwal 

Scrapping 9am lectures, demanding 50% off school meals, free meal days, and improving timetables by removing large gaps and one class days whilst implementing online lecture attendance. 

Ahmad Mateen  

Increasing support for Palestinian students and strengthen City’s St Georges humanitarian solidarity. Also aims to include June resits for all courses and implement free printing on campus. 

Anisa Mukhtar 

Aims to focus on campus safety, improve career guidance early in studies, and ensure students have a dedicated mentor for guidance and support throughout their time at university. 

Asyirah Sofiah Kamal Hisham 

Implementing tangible cost of living support, ensuring affordable food and rent costs for students and speed up department’s response times. 

Ayla Hamzayeva 

Aims to focus on mental health wellbeing and career support for students and improve academic quality and flexibility. 

Francis Acheampong 

Aims to tackle cost of living, implement recorded tutorials improved and more frequent assignment feedback and access to efficient mental health support.

Aims to fight cost of living issues for students implement affordable food at city improve mental health well-being and academic support and fairness

Increasing mental health support and spotlighting underrepresented commuter students, improving academic transparency and assignment feedback. 

Larry Mills 

Aims to give students a voice by improving City St Georges student media, build solidarity between us and other London universities and introduce radio cafe broadcasting on campus. 

Lu Shum 

 Giving students digital autonomy by replacing propriety software with open software. Reducing students’ subscription fees to increase spending on student welfare such as including a hot drink in the 3 pounds meal. Establishing a skill exchange platform for students. 

Maham Omer 

improving academic wellbeing for students, expanding community spaces, and increasing financial and professional support for widening participation students.  

Mai Abu Al Saud 

Creating clear communication between students and leadership, strengthening student employability by expanding industry talks implementing AI and digital skills workshops and advocate for student wellbeing. 

Mohammed Rahman 

Enhancing student welfare and mental health support, prioritising inclusivity encouraging a diverse student voice, and implementing more eco-friendly practices at City St Georges. 

Muhammad Khan 

 Prioritising support for student housing, improving career, study, and personal support, creating clear student resources and increasing culture focused events on campus. 

Narun Pardeshi 

Fighting for improved teaching and feedback university wide. Providing high quality digital recordings, demanding investment parity between both Tooting and Northampton square and starting Campus Bridge initiative for cross campus collaborations. 

Patrick Rukengwa 

Improving student services; better wellbeing support and more effective admin process. Focusing on tangible goals; extending library hours during exam periods and reporting progress to students. 

Rami Banjak 

 Prioritising transparency with students, increasing employability via links with career placements and providing mental health and academic pressure support. 

Rathurshan Rajeekaren 

Supporting students’, particularly international students, with cost-of-living via travel bursaries and canteen vouchers. Improving academic experience and providing stronger independence for societies whilst implementing better and more frequent events on campus. 

Roman Asghar 

Aims to create a permanent Student Union foodbank equal access to both Clerkenwell and Tooting campuses for student access affordable food on campus in the SU cafe above City Bar  

Ruby Boland 

Making Student Union visible on every campus, holding regular open forums for Tooting students’ representation. Safer and farer clinical healthcare placements. Welfare support that works for students’. 

Sabha Chaudhary 

Providing cost of living support with affordable on campus food and making university funding, student discounts, and travel savings easier to find. Make City St Georges’ careers hub clearer and easier to navigate and increasing cross campus student bonding.   

Taahaa Rizwan 

Aims to focus on careers, academic success, student mental health and campus security. 

Tartil Al-Shahim 

Implementing re-marks on assignments better student feedback and placing resists at a suitable time for all students. Pushing for progress in City St George’s humanitarian affairs such as the Palestinian student scholarships. Implementing better use and maintenance of campus infrastructure. 

Ventataramana Muppipdoju 

Prioritising welcoming students into university and London life. Delivering concrete solutions to everyday problems particularly regarding mental health tackling cost of student life and implementing transparent and flexible timetabling. 

Volodymyr Skuratovych 

 Placing students first, focus on clear communication with students, and reduce everyday student expenses.

Read their full top three priorities and decide who you want to vote for. 

You can vote for more than one candidate so place your choice in order of preference once you have decided click submit. 

 Remember voting ended at 5pm Monday the 16th of March . 

Election Results Night is currently being revised, but the Student union will inform us via email of when we can come together to celebrate our new representatives so stay tuned!
